Mobility behavior in North Rhine-Westphalia

Dear participants,

As part of the ATMo² research project, which is being carried out jointly by the Technical University of Dortmund and the University of Duisburg-Essen, we are conducting a study on mobility behavior in North Rhine-Westphalia.

On the following pages, we would like to share your experiences and assessments on this topic and gain insights into your mobility habits. The knowledge gained will be used to develop concepts to improve mobility in our federal state.

We are primarily interested in your personal opinion. If you find it difficult to answer a question, please choose the option that best applies to you.

It will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete the questionnaire.

Your information will be collected anonymously and treated confidentially. The data does not contain any direct reference to you and will be used exclusively for scientific purposes.

Did you know? As a thank you for participating in our survey, you can also take part in our giveaway.

You could win:

  • A top smartphone (Apple iPhone or Samsung Galaxy, your choice)
  • A Samsung Galaxy Watch
  • A pair of wireless headphones
  • 10 mobility vouchers to use as you wish with numerous providers in North Rhine-Westphalia

Thank you for your support!

The survey is conducted by the Technical University of Dortmund and the University of Duisburg-Essen. Prof. Dr. Johannes Weyer, as the coordinator of the project, is responsible for the survey in terms of data protection.

The only personal data collected is the data listed at the beginning of the survey; this data is anonymised, treated confidentially and used exclusively for scientific purposes. Your IP address is anonymised by the system when you use the questionnaire and is not stored in connection with your other data.

These are in particular:

  • Use of means of transport and equipment
  • Use of mobility apps
  • Attitudes to mobility and technology
  • Personal mobility restrictions
  • Sociodemographic information (e.g. age group, gender, place of residence (incl. postcode), nationality, income group, education, number of children, occupation)

Participation is open to persons aged 18 and over. Your participation is voluntary and the data collected from you will be stored for the purpose of processing and analysing the data until the ATMo² research project ends on 31 October 2027. After that, your data will only be available in aggregated form for further scientific processing.

The legal basis for the processing is your voluntary consent (in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1a GDPR). The data does not contain any direct reference to you as a person, but it cannot be ruled out that a reference can be established in individual cases. Attempting to identify the persons is punishable by law; all persons are obliged to maintain confidentiality.

You will not suffer any disadvantage if you refuse to give this declaration of consent and you can revoke consent at any time with effect for the future. Any processing that has already taken place will not become unlawful upon revocation.

If you have any questions or require assistance in completing the questionnaire, please contact us at the email address atmo2.sfs@tu-dortmund.de. We will send you our reply shortly.
